Industrial paint shop W. Betz switches working time controlling to timeCard
"Our old-fashioned time clock has been a thorn in my side for a long time."

Now in its third generation, the name Betz stands for high-quality surface finishing of wood, metal and plastic. Many customers from trade and industry have been loyal to the industrial paint shop, which was founded in 1949, for years because the service, quality and price are right. The traditional family business relies on state-of-the-art painting and powder coating technologies to provide materials with long-lasting protection against corrosion and external influences.
Until 2005, the industrial paint shop's time recording system was less modern: "Our old-fashioned time clock had been a thorn in my side for a long time," reports Managing Director Bettina Betz. "I had to evaluate each time card individually and then add up my employees' working hours manually."
To remedy this situation, Bettina Betz searched the Internet for a more efficient system. "I very quickly came across timeCard from REINER SCT. The clear screen design immediately appealed to me. After closer examination, the wide range of functions and the excellent price-performance ratio finally convinced me," says Bettina Betz.
The handy cyberJack® time card reader from REINER SCT, which is mounted on the wall in the company's break room and is very easy to remove, serves as the recording device. "timeCard can be used either online or offline. For us, the offline version was more advantageous because we didn't have to lay any new cables in advance. In addition, it only takes a few simple steps to connect the reader to my PC and import the data," continues the managing director.
Unlike in the past, the eight employees at the industrial paint shop not only record the start and end of the working day, but also all snack, smoking and lunch breaks. With just a few mouse clicks, timeCard now provides a detailed overview of all working time accounts, including vacation, training and sick days. As the company's hourly-paid cleaning staff are also equipped with a chip card for timeCard, their accounts can now also be settled in no time at all. "Controlling working hours used to take up quite a few hours, which I can now use much more sensibly," comments Bettina Betz. As more accurate time recording contributes to greater work discipline, timeCard also improves the productivity of the entire company.

In the meantime, timeCard has been proving itself in daily operation for a year and a half; the cards and reader work flawlessly. The only problem Bettina Betz can remember at all occurred during the initial installation: "However, it was quickly solved because REINER SCT offered an excellent support service." Whenever she clicks on the timeCard icon, the program automatically checks whether a new version is available on the Internet. So she doesn't have to worry about updating the software herself.
Instead, Bettina Betz is thinking about installing another cyberJack® time terminal in the workshop. This would make it easy to determine exactly how much time a particular operation takes. This option should also be very interesting for other SMEs - for example, when it comes to
preparing well-founded quotations or cost estimates.
