PWS Polsterwerkstätten Steinau specializes in the interior upholstery of caravans, motorhomes and boats. The company also furnishes hotels, cafés, restaurants and surgeries and upholsters seating furniture. The master upholsterers and the team in the joinery, foam production, cutting, sewing and upholstery departments ensure that every favorite piece is professionally refurbished.
In addition to full-time and part-time employees, PWS also employs hourly-paid temporary staff. In order to record actual working time and optimize work processes, the company introduced a time recording system over 15 years ago. A self-programmed DOS program was used for this purpose. This was not network-compatible and could only be used and managed at one workstation. It also only had one working time model, although there were different models in the company. Absences such as vacation or illness had to be entered separately for each day. This meant that the DOS program required a lot of manual processing.
For these reasons, Polsterwerkstätten Steinau was looking for a new time recording system. Susanne Kopp from the HR department remembers: "We wanted a time recording system that was network-compatible, flexible and easy to use and could record different working time models!".
In a catalog, Polsterwerkstätten Steinau was introduced to the time recording system timeCard premium plus DES from REINER SCT. timeCard exactly meets the requirements of PWS: it can be connected via an existing network, can be flexibly retrofitted, is easy to install and operate and offers a clear processing interface. It is also offered at a fair price-performance ratio.
After the timeCard-software was tested using a demo version, PWS was convinced by the electronic time recording system. The ordering and installation process via the BZB office center - an official sales partner of REINER SCT - went smoothly.
"The timeCard access control complements time recording seamlessly. That's why we would also like to introduce it at
Susanne Kopp,
!"

Since then, the 48 employees have been booking the start and end of their working day on a timecard-multi-terminal installed in the entrance area. To do this, they simply hold an RFID transponder - which can be conveniently worn on a key ring - in front of the terminal. Absences such as vacation, training and sick days are also recorded by timecard recorded.
Time recording is managed by a clerk who has received one hour of in-house training from the BZB office center with timeCard in an hour of in-house training by the BZB office center. The new electronic time recording system allows her to work more comfortably and compile working times for payroll accounting more quickly.
In the near future, PWS is also planning access control from timeCard in the near future. For this purpose, an external RFID reader will be attached to the outside wall of the entrance, which will allow authorized persons access as soon as they hold their transponder in front of the reader. The same transponders are used as for time recording. The Mifare DESFire technology contained in the transponders transmits the data in encrypted form. The level of encryption is the same as for EC cards. This means that the data cannot be read and misused by third parties.
This means that employees are only authorized to enter at certain times. Unlike classic metal keys, the electronic key cannot be used to open the door at night, for example. If a transponder is lost, it can be blocked immediately at the click of a mouse.
All persons who are already in the timeCard time recording are also immediately available for access control, as a central database is used for this purpose. Susanne Kopp from PWS says: "The timeCard access control complements time recording seamlessly. That's why we want to introduce it here too!".
