Interview with Uwe Stephan, R&S Textile Care
Mr. Stephan, please briefly introduce your company. Our laundry was founded in 1993 and has been based in Leipzig ever since. We clean pretty much anything that can be washed – private laundry, shirts, rental linen, workwear, comforters, curtains, blinds and, of course, your favorite cuddly toy made of plush. We offer special service packages for hotels, restaurants and daycare centers in Leipzig and the surrounding area. How many employees do you have and what working time models do you have? We employ a total of 10 people. Some have working time accounts, others are employed part-time. We also employ temporary staff who are paid by the hour. What prompted you to consider using electronic time recording? Before timecard was introduced, we recorded working times on paper and for a while with a fingerprint scanner. However, this had various disadvantages for us. Writing everything down by hand was far too confusing and the fingerprint system wasn’t practical for us – especially because of the wetness and heat in our laundry. This resulted in repeated system failures. So we looked for a reliable alternative that works better. What specific requirements did you have for the time recording system? There were two things in particular: We wanted to switch to a solid system that would require as little effort as possible and be completed quickly. It was also important for us to be able to record vacation, sick and absence days precisely and to have a better overview of them. To ultimately have more control over our employees’ vacation and absence times. Why did you choose timeCard time recording and not another system? A timeCard I personally particularly liked the fact that installation and operation are so easy – even for the employees. We all knew how it worked right from the start. The user interface is totally clear and self-explanatory. It is also very practical that I can use timecard via our existing network and didn’t have to set anything up again. How long have you been using timeCard? Since October 2016 Please briefly describe how the software supports you in detail. timeCard is very compact and captures all the information I need. Not only are all working hours per employee recorded exactly, but also vacation, sick and absence days. Previously, we had to put a lot of things together manually. This was not only time-consuming, but also annoying and tedious. In addition, I now find out quickly when employees are late and can react accordingly. Also for my employees timecard is very practical. Instead of writing their working hours on pieces of paper, they simply log in to the system with a click. You can submit your absence requests directly in timeCard and cancel them if necessary.
And in summer, when everyone wants to go on vacation, timeCard helps me to keep an overview.
