At ZDF, Microsoft Azure AD plays a key role in protecting the IT infrastructure. Securing Microsoft 365 access in particular was a key concern for the IT team. The aim was to implement reliable multi-factor authentication (MFA) that does not rely on the use of smartphones - because not all employees have a work device or want to use their private device for work purposes.
The solution: The REINER SCT Authenticator - hardware-based and user-friendly
The REINER SCT Authenticator was deliberately chosen because it functions as a physical security solution independent of mobile devices. With its high level of user-friendliness and reliable authentication, it precisely meets the requirements of ZDF's IT strategy.
Current deployment status:

The introduction of the REINER SCT Authenticator was a strategic step for ZDF. In addition to protecting Microsoft 365 accounts, the plan is to integrate other applications into the hardware-based security architecture in the future. The result is a sustainable, scalable MFA concept that meets the needs of all employees - regardless of whether they use a smartphone or not.
