To check this, press the following on your chip card reader the @ button or the cogwheel button (depending on the chip card reader). If “CreateTAN ” now appears on the display and you can use this function after pressing the OK button, your chip card reader is already equipped with the chipTAN USB procedure. If the message “Function not licensed!” appears after pressing the OK button, you will have to purchase the chipTAN upgrade.
The process of an online banking transaction is similar to the familiar process with HBCIexcept that you will now be asked to check and confirm the transaction a little more often. Therefore, please always pay attention to the display of your chip card reader.

With all new chip card readers or TAN generators with USB connection, which are delivered by REINER SCT from January 2018, the chipTAN module is already included and no longer needs to be licensed subsequently. Please note that retailers may still have readers in stock that REINER SCT delivered before January 2018, i.e. without a chipTAN module, and for which the chipTAN module still has to be licensed for a fee. REINER SCT has no influence on this.
