Furtwangen, December 17, 2013 – Yesterday, the first electronic exam in Germany took place using smart card readers from REINER SCT.
The Black Forest specialist for online security supplied the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Karlsruhe with 180 readers for the project. Students from the Department of Business Informatics registered for this eExam – mathematics with a focus on linear algebra, analysis and financial mathematics – using a PDF document.
Directly before the start of the eExam, the students signed a personal declaration for the exam on the exam PC.
This signature was created using a signature card and the “cyberJack RFID komfort” chip card reader from REINER SCT.
30 students used the Qualified Electronic Signature, 30 other students used the Advanced Electronic Signature.
The Furtwangen-based company sponsored some of the readers.
“The project of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and its partners is groundbreaking, which is why we were very happy to contribute our hardware and know-how,” says REINER SCT Managing Director Klaus Bechtold.
REINER SCT is currently the only provider of certified comfort readers.
The electronic exam with signature is part of the “optes” joint project of the DHBW, the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences and the “ILIAS open source e-Learning e.V.” association in collaboration with the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg and the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.
One of the aims of the project is to make processes at universities more efficient.
The plan is to also use the readers for an electronic signature of the e-exam itself in the coming year.
