Furtwangen, November 12, 2010 – In the future, it will also be possible to use the new ID card to sign online. This makes legally binding contracts possible on the Internet. The signature certificate required for the so-called Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) is now available exclusively from the REINER SCT webshop, which is operated in cooperation with Bundesdruckerei.
“As we have relied on electronic signatures right from the start with our comfort readers, we are particularly pleased about this new offer. With this step, we are bringing the future a little closer and testing an important application of the new ID card with our partners,” says Andreas Staiger, Managing Director of REINER SCT.
The pilot phase for Bundesdruckerei’s “sign-me” online signature service starts today.
Holders of the new ID card can purchase the certificate via the website www.reiner-sct.de/sign-me.
They will then receive an authorization code from Bundesdruckerei by post for security reasons, which they can use to download the signature certificate from the Internet.
During the test phase, which is expected to last until spring 2013, the certificate will cost EUR 9.98 for a one-year period.
REINER SCT is also offering a “signature bundle” at a special price of 129.90 euros to anyone wishing to purchase the convenience reader required for online signing with the new ID card.
This bundle consists of the certificate and the “cyberJack® RFID komfort” reader.
The reader can also be used for secure online banking via HBCI or Secoder standard and other applications on the Internet.
REINER SCT is the only provider of comfort readers.
The pilot phase launched today will primarily test the usability and user-friendliness of the registration and ordering process for the signature certificate.
The companies involved want to spend a few months gathering experience with the system and the interaction of the individual components.
Accordingly, during the test phase, users will be asked to complete a questionnaire at the end of the signature loading process.
The findings will be used to optimize the system.
An initial application for the online signature will be presented at CeBIT 2013. About REINER SCT REINER SCT has been developing, manufacturing and distributing readers for smart cards since 1997.
