Furtwangen, October 25, 2010 – Around 70 percent of medium-sized companies in Germany systematically record the working hours of their employees.
This was the result of a representative study conducted by Furtwangen University on behalf of REINER SCT.
According to 43 percent of those surveyed, they use time recording primarily to determine overtime and actual working hours.
While 37 percent use electronic systems for this purpose, the rest still record all working time data themselves, through the HR department or management.
The main arguments in favor of an electronic method are that it is accurate, automatic and directly integrated into the company software, thus saving personnel and administrative costs.
Almost a quarter of the study participants also introduced their electronic time recording system in order to be able to plan better.
They use the system data for analysis and to manage working times flexibly and in line with the work situation.
Increasing data security or avoiding miscalculations, on the other hand, are decisive factors for only six percent of users.
In general, the study revealed that companies with flexitime or shift work models are the main users of electronic time recording systems.
