As this is the latest security standard of the German banking industry, which is based on the chipTAN or Sm@rt-TAN procedure that has been tried and tested millions of times, you do not have to worry about the security of the procedure.

If you use the chipTAN or Sm@rt-TAN with the familiar flicker graphic, e.g. from Volksbanken, Sparkassen or Postbank, you can use the app with the TAN generator tanJack® Bluetooth TAN generator immediately and without conversion via Bluetooth 4 LE. All you need is a smartphone or tablet of the latest generation that supports at least Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4 LE.

IMPORTANT: For security reasons, the REINER SCT online banking app only supports the chipTAN or Sm@rt-TAN procedure (known from the flicker graphic) for transaction security, e.g. for bank transfers. Please check whether your bank or account supports this procedure. For accounts that do not support these procedures, only the account balances can be queried.

For all customers who want a tanJack® Bluetooth, there is a very special highlight: after the first transaction (e.g. bank transfer) using the Bluetooth method, the app is automatically activated for the management of multiple accounts. Until then, only one account can be managed.

Can I still use my old card?

With a normal card exchange (follow-up card), you can still use your old card until the end of the year. However, as soon as you use the new card in online banking, you can no longer switch back to the old card.

What do I need to consider?

As with the flicker code procedure (chipTAN optic), it is very important that you check the data shown on the secure display of your TAN generator and only then approve it by clicking OK.

Is chipTAN QR also secure?

Yes! chipTAN QR is the simplest and most secure procedure since online banking was invented. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) also confirms that the chipTAN procedure is secure.

How does a TAN generator (chipTAN QR) work?

In online banking, instead of the flicker code, you only need to take a photo of the QR code displayed with your TAN generator (this is the image with the black squares). It’s lightning fast and totally convenient.
