How does two-factor authentication work with REINER SCT Login?

Security is based on the global TOTP standard (Time-based One-Time Password) using a QR code. After entering your Windows password, a time-based one-time code is requested, which is generated by compatible hardware from REINER SCT.

Why should I activate 2FA if my account is already protected by a strong password?

A strong password alone can still be compromised. The 2FA provides an additional layer of security and protects your account even if your password is stolen.

Why is the use of 2FA important?

The 2FA increases security because even if an attacker finds out a user’s password, they cannot access the account without the second factor.

How can I set up the REINER SCT login software with TOTP?

Install the REINER SCT Login software on your Windows computer.
Activate TOTP authentication in the software.
Scan the generated QR code with a TOTP-compatible authenticator, we recommend the REINER SCT Authenticator mini.
Enter the one-time code generated in the app for confirmation.
After successful setup, you must enter the current TOTP code in addition to your password each time you log on to Windows.
