What is the Personal Safety Environment (PSU)?

In a technical context, PSU describes an area in a storage medium. In asymmetric encryption, there is a public and a private key. The PSU is the area in which the private part can be stored securely. This area can be software, i.e. an encrypted file, or an extra hardware device, a hardware PSE such as a smartcard or a USB stick. Only those who have a correct password or PIN are authorized and therefore have access.
